People come to counseling for many different reasons. You may be concerned about your child, watching your teenager struggle, feeling overwhelmed by the demands of your own life, experiencing changes in your relationships, or simply realizing that something needs to change.
At Graceful Pines, I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through a variety of life experiences and challenges. My years in education, school counseling, clinical counseling, and counselor education have also shaped several areas of particular interest in my work.
Wherever you find yourself, counseling begins with understanding what matters most to you and determining together how I can best support you.
You've spent so much time caring for everyone else that you may have forgotten what it feels like to care for yourself. Career changes, relationships, caregiving responsibilities, an empty nest, approaching retirement, or simply wondering what comes next can leave you feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected from the person you once knew yourself to be.
Counseling offers a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we'll explore what matters to you now, build on the strengths you already possess, and help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
When your work centers around caring for others, it can be easy to place your own needs at the bottom of the list. The emotional demands of supporting students, clients, patients, families, or colleagues can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or wondering how much more you have to give.
Counseling provides a confidential space where you don't have to be the person with all the answers. It's a place to process the weight you've been carrying, reconnect with yourself, establish healthier boundaries, and find ways to continue doing meaningful work without losing yourself in the process.
Sometimes life simply feels heavier than it used to. You may be facing anxiety, grief, stress, relationship concerns, a major transition, or a sense that something in your life needs to change, even if you're not quite sure what that change looks like yet.
Individual counseling gives you a place to slow down and explore what's happening beneath the surface. Together, we'll identify what is getting in the way, recognize your strengths and choices, and develop practical ways to help you move toward greater emotional well being, confidence, and hope.
Children don't always have the words to explain what they're thinking or feeling. Changes at home or school, anxiety, grief, big emotions, behavioral concerns, or difficulties with friendships can sometimes show up in ways that leave parents wondering how best to help.
Through Child Centered Play Therapy and Humanistic Sandtray Therapy, children are given developmentally appropriate ways to express themselves, explore their experiences, build confidence, and develop healthier ways of coping.
Play is a child's natural language. Within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, children have the opportunity to work through challenges in the way that makes the most sense to them.
The teenage years can be complicated. Academic pressure, anxiety, friendships, family relationships, changing expectations, and figuring out who you are can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Counseling provides adolescents with a supportive and judgment free space where they can talk openly, better understand what they're experiencing, develop healthy coping strategies, and build confidence as they navigate increasing independence and the transition toward adulthood.
Teens don't have to arrive knowing exactly what to say. Counseling can begin wherever they are.
Relationships naturally move through seasons of change. Stress, communication difficulties, unresolved conflict, major life transitions, or simply feeling disconnected can leave couples wondering how to find their way back to one another.
Couples counseling provides a supportive space to slow down, understand the patterns affecting your relationship, improve communication, and strengthen your connection. Together, we'll work toward greater understanding, healthier ways of managing conflict, and rebuilding the friendship and trust at the heart of your relationship.
Families can become disconnected when stress, transitions, communication difficulties, or ongoing challenges begin affecting relationships at home. Sometimes everyone cares deeply about one another but has simply become stuck in patterns that are no longer working.
Family counseling provides a space to better understand one another, improve communication, work through challenges together, and build healthier patterns of connection. The goal isn't a perfect family. It's helping your family find healthier ways to communicate, connect, and move forward together.
Sometimes strengthening a child's emotional well being begins by strengthening the relationship they already have with their parent.
Child Parent Relationship Therapy, or CPRT, is a structured approach that teaches parents play therapy skills they can use to better understand and respond to their child's emotional needs. Through guided practice and support, parents learn new ways to communicate, set limits, encourage emotional expression, and strengthen connection.
CPRT helps parents become an active part of the therapeutic process while building skills that can continue strengthening the parent child relationship long after counseling ends.
You may see yourself in one of these areas, several of them, or none of them exactly. That's okay. People and their experiences don't always fit neatly into categories.
Counseling at Graceful Pines is tailored to you, your experiences, and what you hope to change or better understand. Together, we'll determine what support makes the most sense for where you are right now.
